In June of 2007 when she was 12 years old, Megan (the founder and organizer of RBWP) decided to do something to help end breast cancer. She had two friends whose mothers had died from breast cancer and wanted to do something to make a difference. One day, while watching her dad ride off on his motorcycle in a pink shirt, she got the idea for RBWP. She started planning, organizing, contacting sponsors in the community, and getting the word out to riders. On September 22, 2007, the first annual ride took place! On the first registration form, Megan wrote:
In the summer of 2007, I decided to organize a motorcycle ride for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I am a 12 year-old who wants to help put an end to breast cancer any way I can.
